The structural problem
Basements, plant rooms, steel-framed cores and rural plots before the mast is live: the places where defects are found are the places where a browser-based tool stops working. The work does not stop, so the evidence goes somewhere else.
Capture with no signal
Open a site and plot, raise a defect and take photos or video with the multi-shot camera. Each photo is GPS-tagged and saved to the device instantly. Custom forms and Part L inspections run on the same walk, so the checklist and the defects it raises share one record. Snagging is included. The same walk also holds inspection evidence that aftercare and compliance will need later.
Annotate before you leave the room
Arrows, circles and freehand drawing, with colour options and one-tap undo. The annotation is saved alongside the original image, so the contractor sees exactly what was meant and the record keeps the untouched photo.
Pin to a cached floorplan
Text locations create repeat visits. "Second bedroom, somewhere on the left" is not a location a trade can trust. Download plans once, pin offline, and the location travels with the defect onto the same plot record used for routing, SLAs and aftercare. A pin that only exists inside an exported snag PDF is not enough.
Sync when the signal returns
Browse sites, plots, rooms and existing defects offline. When the device is back online, background sync reconciles every capture automatically. Sync is conflict-safe and idempotent, so nothing is duplicated and nothing is lost to a dropped connection.
What works offline actually means
"Works offline" covers a wide range of behaviour, from a tool that holds one form in memory until the page is refreshed to one that treats the device as the primary record. Guided Site is the second kind.
Put the phone in aeroplane mode. Raise a defect with a photo, a floorplan pin and a checklist. Reconnect once. Expect one intact record on the plot. If anything is missing or duplicated, the tool is a browser cache, not an offline store.
Part L on the same walk
Approved Document L photographic evidence is often captured in basements, fabric junctions and plant spaces, the same dead zones where snags appear. Guided Site runs custom forms and Part L inspections offline alongside defects and pins. Photos are geotagged on the device and sync onto the plot record beside the snag history.
That is capture on the same walk. It is not a claim that Guided Site replaces a specialist BREL packaging tool, or that a finished compliance submission is produced automatically. Evidence still needs to meet the requirements your assessor and warranty provider set. The failure mode it removes is the camera-roll folder named after the site, with no plot or checkpoint attached.
Snagging: yes, and much more
Guided Site captures snags and defects. It also captures inspection checklists, Part L evidence, annotations and plan location, then carries those items into DLP and aftercare on the same plot record. Site Managers, Quality and Technical, Customer Care and Build Directors sign in with a Guided Home account. Homeowner-facing journey stages sit on the white-label resident surface at yourcompany.guidedhome.co, with Apple and Android apps. That surface is not this app's primary job.
